Bukit Merah View Carrot Cake

Not to be confused with other carrot cake vendors, Bukit Merah View Carrot Cake is one of the last in Singapore that still make its ingredients from scratch in an artisanal manner. With a family history spanning over 70 years, the present stall owner is one of three brothers who patiently follows tradition by milling the key ingredients of broken rice and mixing it with hot water to produce a starchy combination. After that, white radish is added and steamed before it is ready for frying. To avoid the labor-intensive process, most hawker stalls now go straight to sourcing for ready-made carrot cake.
